There seems to be this whole Asian line of argument surfacing that “My parents were immigrants, they came here with nothing, and they still made it, so why can’t other people do that?” Okay, look. For starters, this is your parents’ experience. Who are you to represent it as if it’s anything you know about or something that you personally achieved or should be proud of? You didn’t do anything except grow up here, so stop waving that flag around as if you know all about the difficulties of the immigrant experience.
